Sciath na Scoil Final replay

Hard luck to our footballers who came in 2nd place in the Sciath na Scoil Final  after another epic battle with Mitchelstown CBS last week.  Only a point separated the two teams at the final whistle.  Ye did us proud boys, well done!!

Official School Opening – 3rd October 2025

How proud we were to officially open our new school building last Friday October 3rd. Despite the dreary weather conditions a huge crowd assembled in the school hall to celebrate this special day,one that will live in the memory bank of all present for a long time.
The junior classes commenced proceedings with a rousing rendition of their appropriately titled song”Fáilte Romhat ar Scoil Inniu” and their beaming smiles and enthusiastic performance set the tone for the rest of the ceremony.

First to speak was Mr.Murray who delivered a very heartfelt and sincere speech thanking everyone who been involved in the project since its inception in 2005.This was followed by an address from Minister for Education and Youth Helen McAntee, who was clearly impressed in equal measures by our state of the art facilities and our amazing pupils.

The senior classes then performed a beautiful song entitled “Turning the Pages”-the theme of the song most fittingly being about the celebration of new beginnings, possibilities and optimism.

Bishop of Cloyne William Crean, assisted by Fr.Coleman, blessed the new building dedicating it as a place of learning, growth and community.

The final performance was very special as the whole school joined with Caroline O’Shea to perform her specially written composition”Welcome to the New School”-a number thoroughly enjoyed by everyone all due to its personal (and catchy) lyrics.
The formalities continued as the ribbon was cut and the plaque was unveiled before the dignitaries and guests enjoyed refreshments served by the Dromahane National School Parents Association.

Thanks to everyone who played a part in organizing a most memorable and enjoyable day.A special mention to past parent Lynn O’Dea of The Meaning of Cake for her amazing creation which was admired by all and to current parent Mary Walsh for her handpainted mural which provided the ideal backdrop for many photo opportunities.
Here’s to the next chapter in Dromahane National School. We look forward to sharing it with you all.
