Operation Transformation 10@10!!

Every student of D.N.S was out in force on Friday the 10th of February to take part in Operation Transformation’s 10 minutes of exercise at 10 o’clock!! We completed a variety of exercises including jumping jacks, lunges and squats. We ensured that we were fully active for the full ten minutes!! Everyone really enjoyed participating and we hope to incorporate whole school initiatives like this more frequently into our busy school life! It was a lot of fun! 5th Class Cork Heritage History Projects.

5th Class students were recent participants in the Cork Heritage History Project. The class were divided into groups and each group investigated a different aspect of our local history. Areas included;  Blarney Castle, Bweeng during 1916, Famine houses, The history of Kilshannig G.A.A, The history of Kilshannig Ladies football, Mallow Castle, Nazareth house and Róilig Padraig graveyard. As well and completing a 3 dimensional construction, each group also completed a portfolio outlining why they chose the project and disclosing the information they discovered while undertaking the projects. Each project was completed to a high standard under the excellent guidance of Ms. Cronin. The projects made us all more aware of the vast history we have so close to home

Here are some pictures of our projects. Check out our 5th Class page to see more!!

Green Flag

On Friday the 18th of November, we held the official raising of our third Green Flag for energy. Councillor John Paul O’Shea did the honours of raising the flag and pupils from 5th Class spoke about the work undertaken to achieve the flag and also the work that will commence to achieve the next flag for water conservation.  Well done to Mr. Verling and the pupils of 5th class for their excellent work and efforts in achieving the flag.
